Laugh!

Last night, before bed, Scott made Jack laugh SO hard that his response was (as he held his hands to his cheeks)....

"I can't even stop laughing because I can't get the laugh off my face!"

It was the absolute cutest thing I think he has ever said and combined with his uncontrollable laugh, my heart melted :)

I love him!

Potty Training!

Since our computer decided to break on us, I will have to add pictures later on.... but for now, I definitely want to get back in to regular updates!!

We have been potty training Jack now for a while. In the very beginning, he was reluctant to go near his potty chair. but once he saw his big cousin Liam sitting on the bowl, it was game on! The first day, he successfully peed AND POOPED on the potty all day long!! We were so so proud. I really anticipated the whole pooping thing to be the hardest part for him, but I am happy to report that he has not pooped in his diaper since day one of training!!! MiMa has been an incredible help as well, since he spends most of his days with her while I am at work. She made sure to have the same potty chair, stickers & "special treats" at her house as well. He has had some accidents with wetting his diaper here and there but for the most part, he tells us when he has to go and is not afraid to go in public restrooms. It's definitely more challenging when we are out, and I am guilty of keeping him in his pull up if we are going to be gone for long periods of time. However, he will tell us when he needs to go and we find the nearest bathroom. Now I just have to be more diligent with keeping his big boy underwear on all day!

Overall, it has been surprisingly easy and fun experience for us all. THANK GOD!!

I'M BACK!

I am finally taking the time to sit down and post some updates. Somehow, two months have flown by since my last entry! Oops! I am happy to say though, that only good things have happened since then :)Jack gets bigger by the day & amazes Scott & I with every little thing he does!

Before the pictures, I'll let you know what's going on with the little man....

*He talks more than ever! I'm convinced he was a parrot in a previous life. He is curious about everything around him and will repeat what he says OVER and OVER until you say exactly what he did. He does get slightly frustrated if you are not able to understand what he is saying. I used to just "uh huh" him if I had no clue what he was saying, but that is unacceptable. Scott & I are fluent in "Jack."

* His FAVORITE cartoon for the last few months has surprisingly been Scooby Doo. What's surprising about it is that he is obsessed with the episodes from 1970. He prefers the really old ones to the newer ones and LOVES to dance with Daddy to the theme song.

*We had our 2 1/2 year well visit. He is 3 feet 1/4" and 29.8 lbs. Can't seem to break the 30lb mark. He is on the slim side but perfectly fine for his height :) Everything else looked good. We have been having issues with fluid in his ears since his last bad infection in December but it seems to have cleared up!! The doctor did tell me however, to cut back on Jack's milk intake! I was totally shocked by that. Jack is not a juice drinker, not because he does not like it, he just asks for milk morning, noon & night! He loves it. He has "special milk" and "regular milk." The special milk is the pediasure he drinks if he is not having a good eating day and the regular milk is exactly that, regular 1 % milk. He tells me which milk he wants each morning and that is what he gets. Apparently, you can actually have too much milk! It can lead to anemia, which I never knew.

*He is still a huge sleeper! He no longer takes two naps a day, but the one nap he takes is anywhere from 4 -4 1/2 hours! It's crazy. He literally sleeps through lunch most days!!

*The Ipod Touch is his favorite toy. It's absolutely fascinating to watch him work this thing. He literally taught himself how to go from app to app! We have a flash card app. that he loves where he repeats parts of the body. We will be driving in the car and hear him in the back saying "red blood cells, pancreas, spleen" etc. It's hysterical. He also loves Angry Birds and his Toy Story games. It's a great distraction for him when we have somewhere to be for an extended period of time or long car rides! Which means we all love it :)

*Traffic lights are Red, Yellow & "Blue" He totally knows his colors, he just tells me that he does not like green lol. So whenever the light turns green, without fail, he says "Blue Mama, not green, I don't like green!" I love it!

*The mall is still his favorite place, but Shop Rite is definitely a close second. Whenever I pick him up after work, he tells me he needs to go to Shop Rite. He could spend hours there!

*We are also potty training, which is going amazingly well, but that will be a post on it's own :)

That's about it for the little man. He's really not so little anymore, which of course makes me a bit sad but this age is SO MUCH FUN! I'll follow this with some pictures, well, probably a lot of pictures :) This is my attempt to get back in the swing of things and post more often!

New Year. New Attitude.

I still have to post about our Christmas and New Year's celebrations. I will, eventually. This is not one of my usual picture posts. Just something that has been on my mind for the last week.

About a week ago, a beautiful 17 year old girl from our town was tragically killed in a car accident. They were on a windy road and simply hit black ice. I have read tons of articles relating to this accident. While it is awful to read about anything like this, I feel like it hits so much closer to home now, being a mother myself. In one of the articles, the mother mentions how her daughter was her first born, her first love. That has not left my head. Jack is our first born and our first love. My heart breaks for them.

This whole situation has made me more appreciative of everything that I have in my life. I need to continue to be aware of everything good in my life and not take anything for granted.

This past month, Jack has been going through a "Mama Do" phase. I am the ONLY one allowed to do anything and everything. Majority of the time, Jack screams at Scott, not wanting him to do anything for him, only "Mama Do!" While most of the time it is hysterical, other times it's totally exhausting and frustrating. Sometimes "Mama do" just wants to sit and let "Daddy do!" He has also been waking up frequently throughout the night since he was sick for a while. Our 14 hour a night sleeper was now waking up crying, miserable and only wanting me at all hours of the night. As a result, a very cranky, tired mommy often snapped very easily at daddy, because maybe he got a little more sleep. It's these little challenges I am now realizing I should just sit back and appreciate. Be thankful for. Somewhere there is a family would do anything to have these moments. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff and we are blessed.

So, for 2011, my resolution is extra kisses, lots of I Love You's, and fully enjoying every "challenge" with our FIRST LOVE!
